Subject: Invitation to Join Protest Against Illegal Tree Cutting Permissions by PMC
Dear Sir/Madam,
This letter is to extend an invitation to join a public protest being organised by the Aam Aadmi Party – Pune on 4th August 2025, against what we believe to be illegal and unjustified permissions granted by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for large-scale tree cutting in critical zones of the city.
This is not a symbolic issue. Based on official documentation, RTI responses, and site inspections, we believe there have been violations of the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act, 1975, including serious procedural lapses. We have attached the relevant documents and evidence for your independent review and judgment.
Event Details – Protest: Tree Funeral (झाडांची अंत्ययात्रा)
📅 Date: 4th August 2025 (Monday)
🕝 Time: 2:30 PM
📍 Route: Balgandharva Rang Mandir to PMC Main Gate, Pune
While this protest is organised under the banner of a political party, we firmly believe the issue transcends political lines and concerns all those working towards environmental protection and public accountability. We appeal to you to evaluate the evidence yourself and decide whether this cause merits your support — not based on affiliation, but on principle.
We will also be formally petitioning the PMC, requesting urgent review and revocation of the permissions granted.
We request your presence, solidarity, or support — in any form you consider appropriate — to uphold the cause of environmental justice in our city.
Sincerely,
